Though Apple’s new 2.2 firmware beta 1 just started seeding to iPhone devs, the
iPhone Dev Team have already made headway in ‘pwning’ it. Their blog reads: “Version 2.2 is still vulnerable to pwnage and quickpwn on everything but iPod Touch 2G.”
The Dev Team also notes that Apple is sticking with their ski-resort theme naming, calling 2.2 Timberline. Also, they’ve started using expiration dates again — 2.2 beta being set to expire at the end of November.
They promise to keep working on a 3G iPhone soft (non-hardware) unlock as well as a jailbreak for the iPod Touch 2G, saying they’ll start exploring “hardware based ideas” over the weekend.
